Sorry, there won’t be a comic this week as I must take some time for numerous Things That Need Attending To. And i know with my frequent no-shows of late i’m starting to sound like the stereotypical Bad Husband with his constant excuses, “i’m sorry honey, i know i’m staying late at the office all the time but work has just been a bitch lately, but i tell you what, once this project’s finished we’ll put the kids in water-filled plastic bags and throw them in the river and then we’ll go out for a nice steak dinner, just the two of us, what do you say?! etc.” Blah blah blah excuses and so on. However, the thing is that the various things that have been monopolizing my time and energy the past few months will be gone with the wind on december 1st, so 9 out of 10 scientists predict a decrease in missed comix in the period directly following (the other 1 out of 10 is a Mad scientist and predicts an invasion by trout with robotic legs and dorsal-mounted rocket pods). To put it more legibly, my time’s been split horribly between the day job and freelance stuff and the ol’ Subnormality in a bad kinda way, but the splitting fortuitously and finally ends at the end of the month at which point these constant breaks will be less constant. Thanks for your patience; i am aware that a large part of the appeal of a comic is reading a new one on a regular basis, so i’m definitely not full of joy to miss updates like this.  But to make up for it let’s go out for a steak dinner, just you and me, what do you say?!

PS: Hey, a big Thanks to those out there who’ve been submitting the comix to sites like Stumbleupon, Reddit, and Digg and thus enabling a whole lot more people to read them. Stuff like that is word of mouth x100, so it’s handshakes all around to anyone who’s helped out in that regard by foisting my walls of text upon the various online communities of content sharin’ and site linkin’. So, yeah, Thanks Sincerely for what is in the long run a Big Contribution, and probably a contribution that is understated in the general discussion of webcomics.

There are people who make comics on the internet. Christ, all that waiting and it’s fucking not even funny. Hey, it’s november 11th though, which is pretty much the least funny day of the year, so, uh, yeah. Now i must go.

Sorry, this next comic’s taking a while to get right so I’m gonna need more time. Best case scenario is 24hrs late, worse scenario is wednesday, worst case scenario is never because i get struck by a falling plant pot resulting in comedic memory loss and not-so-comedic internal hemorrhaging. And then the coffin is too small; awkward!! Let us see what tomorrow brings.

Something’s been bugging me for like 10 years, so i must poll the masses here on a subject. D’yer remember that Calvin & Hobbes storyline where they get back from vacation and the house has been broken into and such? Yeah, you remember it, it’s in Revenge of the Baby Sat and it’s one of the more memorable “serious” storylines that Watterson did (take a moment to sigh and bask in pleasant memories of C&H at this point). Anyway, i swear to god i was reading the paper in about the year 2000 (between 1998-2001, let’s say) and over the course of a few days i saw another comic strip completely rip off this storyline! Just full-on plagiarism; they get home, the house has been burgled, they lay awake in bed thinking about the situation, etc, no doubt that it was a total ripoff (but i’m not gonna mention the name of the comic i’m talking about without evidence sitting in front of me, so don’t ask). I distinctly remember this happening, but i can’t find anything about it online anywhere, which means either of two things has happened: either a cartoonist totally got away with one 10 years ago, or my memory is just completely wrong. And i’m not looking to prove one situation rather than the other, i’m just wondering if anyone else out there knows what the hell i’m talking about. So… am i crazy? Anybody? Send me an email if you know of which i speak, i’m mega-curious and starting to think i just imagined the whole thing somehow.

Without beating around the bush, it’s like this: i had a comic written for this week but then i got the worst flu i’ve ever had, so it’s not gonna happen. And what’s even better (and by “better” i mean or course “worse”) is that i’m going out of town next weekend for “canadian thanksgiving,” (whatever that is) so i already wasn’t planning to have a comic next week. Which means that i suddenly have a two-week hiatus on my hands, and i know that people keep telling me to stop apologizing, but fuck you, i’m sorry that i’m gonna have to miss so many updates (“fuck you, I’m sorry!” insultapology!). I’m just so not in love with the realities of life right now; lots of good ideas for comix, zero time to work on them (either that or hours and hours of useless, unworkable flu time). It’s gotten to the point where i’m quite literally sick of it. Yadda yadda yadda, stress, poor me, etc. My point is that, barring any rare tropical diseases or tiger attacks,  i’ll be back on the 18th, so please stay tuned during what I shall dub the Fall Break. And thanks for the patience and the abundance of nice comments, it is so very appreciated. Handshakes far and wide, high fives on the way. Thanks for your understanding, i’ll see you in two weeks with some walls of text and snide remarks.
