Subnormality for March 30th

March 30, 2008

New comic done.  Had a different one going, but I got it half done and then it stopped making sense. Like when you repeat a word over and over until it loses all meaning. Scrapped the thing, anyway. Kind of satisfied with the replacement at least.

Cheers, and Keep the Peace,

Subnormality for March 23rd

March 23, 2008

Comic done, available in the usual manner. Come for the nudity, stay for the huge blocks of text. And then leave…because of the nudity and the huge blocks of text. I was like, “we should get more from our metaphors,” and then I made a comic. Surprising amounts of hairy, naked men and medieval-style peasants with the ragged clothing and the surprisingly good haircuts. Several vegetables were harmed in the making of this comic, including an onion and a red pepper. Negative references to “the online community” are present-company-excepted. See today’s GameFAQs poll results for what I’m referring to.

SITE NEWS:

viruscomix.com updates: Good Reviews and Bad Reviews sections updated and fixed up a bit. Added a second Links page with links not related to comics, for the desperately bored among you who trust my taste/associations. Added a couple new links to this blog’s Blogroll, including The Flowfield Unity (a different sort of comic), Steve Bell (a long-overdue link) and Garfield Minus Garfield (does what it says on the tin).

[EDIT: It's a frenzy of activity! I've added another link, TV Go Home, which isn't a comic and hasn't updated in five years, but is right now The Funniest Thing of All Time.]

This Week’s Subnormality

March 17, 2008

Okay, so the new comic is done, but let me offer some preamble. I’d wanted to do a bigger comic for the strip’s first anniversary last month, but inspiration didn’t strike until this week, so, uh, better late than never I guess. So this one’s kind of big, and it’s got the end of the world, and pigeons, and cars, and pointless dialogue, and horses, and riskily esoteric celebrity cameos, and and weapons tied in knots, and flowers, and butterflies, and onions for 13 cents/kg. Good deal? I dunno. I suppose I could have done this joke in three panels with 1/100th the words, but y’know, I’ve got a reputation to maintain here. So there you go. For more information on the four horsemen, consult your local internet.

Review: Subnormality

March 14, 2008

You can go here to read a new review of Subnormality by Larry “El Santo” Cruz. He’s an intelligent reviewer, and I was thrilled to get his take on the strip. You can read my reactions in the comments section following the review.

So is he right–are my best comics the ones with the least amount of dialogue? Or are there people out there who enjoy my huge blocks of text? I’d love to hear from people on this.

Yes, yes, it’s time for another new comic. New readers can find the previous adventures of this week’s starring character here here here and here.

This Week’s Subnormality

March 2, 2008

Finished this week’s comic, so find it in the usual place. Finally, all the people who like to complain that my comics are “too wordy” can take the week off. As for the rest of you, the wordiness will return–don’t worry! The RSS feed I’m still wrestling with, but it seems to be working on a rudimentary level. It’s not updating in Google Reader right now, but maybe that’s temporary or something. I’ll work at fine-tuning it when I get the time. The feed for this blog, on the other hand, is conveniently built-in, and I’ve added a nice big button over on the left there under the Blogroll so it’s easier to find. You might as well just use the blog feed, come to think of it, since all new Subnormality comics will be announced here the same time they go up on the website. Righty-ho, it’s off to somewhere else I go. Thanks to all for reading, and to all a fine March. Beware the ides though. Terrible business, those ides.
