This Week’s Subnormality

February 24, 2008

This week’s comic is now finished, and is dedicated to all those in the Winter Regions. Shoveling is so passe. And A Big Thanks to all the people who’ve been emailing in this past week! I’ve been very encouraged by all the positive vibes recently, so cheers to everyone who’s taken the time to write in with feedback.

In administrative news, I’ve cooked up an RSS feed on the Subnormality main page, but I’m still getting the hang of the whole RSS thing (as evidenced by this week’s multiple-feed-updates-for-no-reason) so, like it says underneath the button, please bear with me while I’m figuring it all out. Please post a comment here if there’s some crucial problem with the feed that I’m not aware of, because god knows there is. That’s all for now. Cheerio, and thanks for reading!

This Week’s Subnormality

February 17, 2008

Another week, another comic, another mountain of snow to shovel as winter becomes localized entirely in the area outside my house. Website hits have been up recently, so I’d like to welcome any new readers who have just stumbled upon my half-retarded little corner of the internet. Come for the comics, stay for the, uh, comics, because there’s really nothing else. Oh, there’s some great links over to the left where it confusingly says “Blogroll,” so find yourself some other good comics there too.

As an aside, for any fans of the hockey team mentioned in this week’s comic, I am personally responsible for their recent 5-game slide. I wrote that panel about how great the team was doing and then they immediately went into freefall. Another day, another huge jinx. Hopefully we can pull it back against Dallas this afternoon (UPDATE: We didn’t. Shit!!).

Solidarity

February 16, 2008

muhammed_cartoon.jpg

This is a bit pretentious, considering I’m just some idiot on the internet with an audience of about 12 people, but I nonetheless would like to reprint in this space the muhammed cartoon that has caused untold lunacy and resulted in an assassination plot against the man who drew it, 73-year old Kurt Westergaard. It’s about principles, really, and my principles dictate that, as a rational human being (to say nothing of being a cartoonist), I stand in solidarity with this man who dared to speak ill of a religion whose fundamentalists like to kill people who accuse them of being violent. Free speech–that’s what matters. I realize that most of the people reading this may not give a damn about my thoughts on this issue, but I find I just can’t keep silent–however unsolicited my opinions may be. The recent news of violence in Copenhagen in reaction to Danish papers reprinting the cartoon in solidarity makes me, er, rather annoyed. You might even say it pisses me right the fuck off. Horrible to think that one of the most beautiful cities on earth could be marred by such insanity. So there’s the cartoon, reprinted above for your convenience, and more relevant with every torched car and defiled Danish flag.

This Week’s Subnormality / 1st Anniversary!

February 10, 2008

This week’s comic is now finished, so get yourself over there and read it! Or go watch hockey, like I’m going to.

In related news, it was one year ago today that I began Subnormality–in that distant, mysterious winter of 2007! Yes, I have defied the odds and kept at a task for an entire year, thus spitting in the face of years of shameful, lazy precedent. The comic continues to evolve, and I strive for greater consistency on all fronts as we enter the giddy, white-knuckle mania of Year Two! I suspect that the success (or lack thereof) of Year Two will largely determine whether there is a Year Three, but that’s next year’s problem. For now, let us drink and be merry and some other stuff too, and let me now take this time to say to you, before disappearing into the night, Frodo Baggins-like, a hearty Thank You for reading the comic, whether you just discovered it or if you’re one of the three people who’s been here from the beginning!! Thanks be to you, the reader, for frequenting my website of Iniquity and Drollness and Also Some Comics, and may you return upon the morrow for more of what you have seen here today, only better and more streamlined with a hybrid engine, xl cup holders, and racing stripes!!

And by that I mean Thank You for reading my comic, and I hope you all will keep coming back every week because there’ll be another new comic waiting for you if you do! Cheers to all!

This week’s comic can be seen in the usual place, and features inaccurate depictions of Swedish furniture.
